Eventeria ("we," "us," or "our") operates eventeria.app (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit and use our Site.

By using Eventeria, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

What Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways:

1. Information You Give Us Directly

When you submit an event to Eventeria, we collect:

• Your email address (so we can contact you about your submission)
• The event details you provide (title, description, date, location, etc.)
• Any images you upload

We do NOT collect your name, phone number, physical address, or payment information from regular users.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit Eventeria, we automatically collect:

• Your IP address
• Browser type and version
• Approximate location (city-level) derived from your IP address, via a third-party service (ipwho.is)
• Pages you visit and actions you take on the Site
• Referring website (how you found us)

This information is collected via standard web server logs and analytics tools.

3. Information Stored in Your Browser

We use localStorage (a feature of your web browser) to remember:

• Which events you've marked as "Going" (RSVP)
• Your theme preference (light or dark)
• Your selected city and filter preferences

This data stays on YOUR device and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it anytime by clearing your browser data.

We do NOT use third-party tracking cookies on Eventeria. We may add minimal analytics cookies in the future (see Cookie Policy).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Display events on the Site
• Respond to your event submissions
• Improve the Site's content and features
• Prevent spam and fraudulent submissions
• Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Send you marketing emails (we have no newsletter at this time)
• Share your email address with event organizers or advertisers

Third-Party Services

Eventeria uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider. They process data on our behalf and comply with GDPR. supabase.com/privacy
• ipwho.is — provides approximate location based on IP address. Only your IP is shared; no other personal data.
• Vercel — our hosting provider. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
• Cloudflare — content delivery and security (if enabled). cloudflare.com/privacypolicy

If we add Google AdSense or Google Analytics in the future, we will update this policy and display a cookie consent banner.

How Long We Keep Your Data

• Event submissions: retained indefinitely as published content
• Web server logs: up to 90 days
• IP address (for geo-detection): used in memory only, not stored on our servers
• Your localStorage data: stays on your device until you clear it

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your submitted event
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent and stop using the Site

Children's Privacy

Eventeria is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us and we will remove it.

International Users

Our Site is hosted on Vercel (United States). If you access Eventeria from outside the US, your data will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland, we rely on "legitimate interest" (providing the Service) and "consent" (for voluntary submissions) as the legal bases for processing personal data under the GDPR.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of any "sale" of your personal information. Eventeria does not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email contact@eventeria.app.

Security

We protect your data using industry-standard practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database hosting, and restricted admin access. However, no system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect changes. Significant changes will be announced on the Site. Continued use of Eventeria after changes means you accept the updated policy.
